What's the Scoop:
Today as a society, we are moving toward a cleaner and more natural way of life, which is amazing! We are going back to mother earth to help us provide a deeper and more meaningful response to sustainability and beauty. And what moves with us is the industry’s trend of labeling. Have you heard of the term “greenwashing”? It’s the way in which companies label their products to make us, the consumers, think we are either doing something better for the planet or for our health, when in reality there is no difference between the “green looking tube” on the shelf and the red tube.
Greenwashing: the practice of making an unsubstantiated or misleading claim about the environmental benefits of a product, service or technology.
Let's Break It Down:

Hypoallergenic:
We think – fewer allergic reactions, tested for common allergies.
Reality– No legal definition by FDA for what it means.
Alcohol – Free:
We think – Free of ALL alcohols
Reality– Can contain cetyl, stearyl, benoyl, or lanolin alcohol. Also known as “fatty alcohols”
Natural:
We think – Derived from natural sources, not synthetic
Reality– No legal definition from the FDA. No proof required to say that all ingredients are “natural”
Oil-Free:
We think – Completely free of oils and feeling of oil
Reality– May contain oil like ingredients (fatty acids, waxes, etc)
What are Chestnuts?
Chestnuts come from a deciduous tree that is closely related to oaks and beeches. They all belong to the family Fagaceae. There are 9 different species of chestnut that can be found in temperate regions in the northern hemisphere.
Benefits of Chestnuts:
Chestnuts help increase brain function since they contain fat-soluble B vitamins that promote healthy skin, produce red blood cells and improve brain function.
Chestnuts contain manganese, which is a mineral that fights off free radicals in the body.
Chestnuts are rich in fiber, as well as mineral salts such as potassium, phosphorus, and small quantities of iron.
